ZYN in Kolkata: ZYN or CLEW now that CLEW costs less?

Since 19 October 2026, CLEW costs less than ZYN at the light end of our shelf: ₹799 for CLEW 5mg against ₹999 for ZYN 3mg or 6mg. Higher up, the answer depends on the strength you use, so this guide lines the two brands up band by band and budget by budget, using only cans that were in stock that day, all of which can be delivered in Kolkata with cash or UPI at the door.

Neither brand wins outright. ZYN gives you two light steps and a mint, fruit and coffee range. CLEW gives you four steps from 5mg to 20mg in eight flavours. The question is which set of trade-offs suits you.

What changed on 19 October

CLEW was repriced across its range. The old price now shows struck through on each CLEW page, above the new one.

The CLEW bundles, one flavour at all four strengths, now cost ₹3,416. ZYN didn't change: ₹799 at 1.5mg, ₹999 at 3mg and 6mg, and ₹1,099 and up for the stronger cans. Prices as of 19 October 2026.

Band by band: what you can buy today

Light: the one real head-to-head

This is the only band where you can choose between the two brands today. ZYN offers two numbers, 3mg and 6mg. CLEW offers one, 5mg, which sits between them. The gap is ₹200 a can, and it grows per pouch: a ZYN can holds 15 pouches to CLEW's 20, so that's roughly ₹40 a pouch for CLEW 5mg against roughly ₹67 for ZYN.

What the extra ₹200 gets you with ZYN: a lighter step than anything CLEW makes, and two flavours CLEW doesn't do, Apple Mint and Black Cherry. What the saving gets you with CLEW: eight flavours at 5mg, including Mango, Watermelon, Blueberry, Menthol and Wintergreen, which ZYN doesn't have in stock.

Medium and Strong: CLEW only, for now

ZYN's 9mg, 11mg, 13.5mg and 16.5mg cans are listed but restocking. Until they're back, the choice above 6mg is within CLEW: CLEW Cool Mint 10mg at ₹899, CLEW Cool Mint 15mg at ₹999 or CLEW at 20mg for ₹1,099, each in eight flavours. At today's listed prices, most of ZYN's 9mg and 11mg cans cost ₹200 more than CLEW 10mg, and ZYN 13.5mg costs ₹100 more than CLEW 15mg.

The same budget, side by side

Three cans make delivery free and five take 5% off, so every row above ships free. On a ₹5,000 budget, CLEW gets you a sixth can and still costs less. On a ₹3,000 budget, ZYN and CLEW 5mg differ by ₹600 for the same three cans' worth of pouches.

The bundle row isn't a like-for-like contest, because the two bundles do different jobs. The ZYN 6mg Bundle is a flavour tour at one strength: Cool Mint, Apple Mint, Black Cherry and Coffee, all at 6mg. A CLEW bundle such as the CLEW Cool Mint Bundle is a strength tour in one flavour. What the price doesn't tell you

• Steps. ZYN in stock gives you 3mg and 6mg. CLEW climbs 5, 10, 15, 20. If 6mg already feels light, only CLEW has a next step in stock.
• Shared flavours. Both brands make Cool Mint, Spearmint and Coffee, so a mint or coffee user can switch without changing taste.
• Brand-only flavours. Apple Mint and Black Cherry are ZYN's. Mango, Watermelon, Blueberry, Menthol and Wintergreen are CLEW's.
• Format. The photos for every in-stock ZYN show a Mini lid. If you like a small pouch, that's a point for ZYN; if you've never noticed format, it won't matter. ZYN in Chennai explains formats.
• Mixing. The can discount counts cans across brands, so you don't have to pick one. Three ZYN and two CLEW is a five-can order with 5% off.

So which should you buy?

• You want the gentlest start: ZYN 3mg. Nothing on our shelf in stock is lighter.
• You use the top of Light and price matters: CLEW 5mg.
• You want Apple Mint or Black Cherry: ZYN, at 3mg or 6mg.
• 6mg feels too easy: CLEW 10mg, until ZYN's Medium cans return.
• You're undecided: one of each in the same flavour. ZYN Cool Mint 6mg, CLEW Cool Mint 5mg and a third can of your choice come to between ₹2,597 and ₹2,897, depending on the third can, and ship free.

Both brands ship together in one plain box to most Kolkata pincodes, including Park Street, Salt Lake, New Town, Ballygunge and Alipore.
