Snus in India: what's really on sale and how to choose a can

In India, "snus" has become the everyday word for any small pouch you tuck under your lip, and almost everything sold under that name online here is a tobacco-free nicotine pouch, also called white snus. Strictly speaking, snus is something else. In Sweden, where the word comes from, snus means moist ground tobacco, sold loose or in small portions and used under the top lip. Two things called snus

The word covers two products that look alike in the can and are used the same way, but aren't the same thing.

What you'll actually find for sale

Search for snus in India and you'll see three kinds of listing:

  • Tobacco-free pouches sold as snus. ZYN, VELO, CLEW and dozens of other brands, often labelled "snus" because that's the word people type into a search bar.
  • Social media sellers. Accounts that post photos of cans and ask for a UPI transfer before they ship. Some deliver, some don't, and you can't tell which until the money's gone. Our Noida snus guide lists the warning signs.
  • Shops like ours. A product page for every can, a strength and flavour on each, a stock status, a checkout that confirms delivery to your pincode, and payment at the door if you want it.

Siberia is the name most people link with strong snus, and the five -80° cans we list are all 33mg, which puts them in our Extra strong band. They're for long-time heavy users only. If that isn't you, the rest of the table has far gentler places to start.

How to choose a pouch if you came looking for snus

Two decisions matter most: strength and flavour. Brand comes a distant third.

Strength

We sort every can into four bands by mg per pouch:

If you've used snus before, the number on your old can may be per gram rather than per pouch, so it won't line up directly. Our Delhi snus guide walks through the conversion. Moving from tobacco snus to white pouches is a bigger change than switching brands, so start one step lower than you think you need and adjust. If you don't use nicotine now, don't start. Flavour

Classic snus tastes of tobacco first. White pouches don't, so the flavour is what you notice. If you want something close to a traditional snus taste:

  • Wintergreen: CLEW Wintergreen, sweet, cooling and a little medicinal in the classic way.
  • Menthol: CLEW Menthol, clean and cold with no sweetness.
  • Mint: ZYN Cool Mint or CLEW Spearmint.
  • Liquorice: ZYN Mini Black Licorice 3mg, when it's in.
  • Tobacco-style: CLEW Golden Tobacco, a warm, toasty tobacco flavouring with no tobacco leaf in the pouch.

Format

Pouches come as mini, slim, ultra slim, regular and XL, and some brands make drier or moister pouches. Format changes how a pouch sits and starts, not how much nicotine it holds. The Mumbai snus guide compares them.

How buying works

  • Pay how you like. Pay by UPI when you order, or choose cash on delivery and pay the rider in cash or by UPI at handover. No COD fee.
  • Free delivery from 3 cans.
  • Can discounts. 5 cans gets 5% off, 10 cans 10%, 25 cans 15% and 50 cans 20%. Cans count across brands; bundles and merch don't count toward the ladder. The cart applies it automatically.
  • Plain box. No brand or product name outside, invoice inside.

Questions people ask

Is snus available in India?

Tobacco-free pouches, often sold as snus or white snus, are. We sell only that kind and deliver it across India. We don't sell traditional tobacco snus.

Why is it called snus if there's no tobacco?

Because white pouches are used the same way, under the top lip, and come in the same round cans. In Sweden the word still means tobacco. In India it has stretched to cover both.

Do you sell Siberia?

We list five Siberia -80° cans, all at 33mg, in the Extra strong band. They're for long-time heavy users only and restock in batches, so check the Siberia collection before planning around them.

What should I try first if I used to use snus?

Pick the flavour you liked, then go one strength step lower than your old can suggests. CLEW Wintergreen and CLEW Menthol both come in 5mg, 10mg, 15mg and 20mg, which makes adjusting easy.

How do I pay?

By UPI when you order, or cash on delivery, paying the rider in cash or by UPI. There's no COD fee.
